THIS HUNT IS SUCH A HUNT- NORMALLY GOOD NUMBERS OF BUCKS, WITH A POSSIBILITY FOR A TRUE TROPHY. HERE ARE THE DETAILS:   This hunt takes place in southeastern Idaho. Deer tags are sold on a first come, first served, basis. There is some reason to think that in 2009 this area will be a draw, but no one knows for sure. We had clients in with this outfitter last year. We hunted  3 weeks, with the first group doing pretty well, the second group having 5 straight days or snow and rain--utterly miserable weather that clearly affected the hunt, and the third group having mixed results, with the most physically capable clients taking a couple of excellent bucks and seeing other big ones. One thing about this area- you will have some competition. However, this year the outfitter is relocating his camp into some rugged country at the face of the mountain, which should eliminate some competition, but which will mean you should be in good condition to get the best chances for success. The largest bucks tend to stay high and in the rugged areas and canyons, while the smaller deer migrate down to lower country. Hunters in the migration see tons of deer, but the biggest deer usually still remain high.  So if you want the better deer, get in shape and be ready to hit the more rugged areas. We had some clients in good shape who pushed out a high deep mountain valley, and they took two really nice deer in the 170 class or so. There are 175 to 200 class mulies here, but you must work very hard for them. On the other hand, if you just want to have a decent mulie hunt, see deer, and are happy with average bucks that you do not have to kill yourself to get, then this hunt works for you too!  And your deer tag can be used for a mulie buck; or for a lion or for a bear (one animal of course). So if a big Bear or Lion comes along - you can fill your tag with that! DATES: OCT 10-14 and OCT 25-29, 2008 Five day hunts. CAMP: Wall tents, horses and ATV's and walking; all as needed. Cook in camp, good cots. PRIVATE LAND OPTION: Outfitter has arranged for private land hunting, however, it will not produce well unless the weather has started a major downward migration. We worked out with the outfitter an option for our clients. Bring $750 in your pocket. If the migration is on and deer are plentiful on the private grounds, you can elect to pay the $750 and hunt that ground, or keep the $750 and continue on the regular hunt. This is very fair to you. You decide on the spot.
